Hepburn Distillery has been a true labour of love built from the ground up by Basil and his family over the past five years. Through his vision, craftsmanship, and dedication to using our region’s finest local produce, Basil has created something truly special — a distillery known for its authenticity, creativity, and award-winning gins, vodkas, and whiskeys.
We acknowledge the heart, hard work, and countless hours Basil has poured into every bottle, every tasting, and every conversation shared across the bar. His passion for quality and community has shaped Hepburn Distillery into what it is today.
While Basil takes a well-deserved break (and turns his attention to building a house!), we’re delighted that he’ll remain part of the distillery family — mentoring new owners Brett and Michelle, and popping in to host workshops and masterclasses from time to time.

WHO WE ARE
Hepburn Distillery began with the idea of LOCAL - working with the wonderful producers in our region to create spirits that are totally UNIQUE.
Wherever we can we source local, seasonal and organic ingredients to give our premium gins and vodkas their full-bodied flavours.
SUSTAINABILITY is at the heart of every decision we make from the food miles of our ingredients through to the paper we use for our labels. We feed the leftover pulp from our potato vodka to local pigs and use only rainwater in all our products and processes.
To offset our carbon emissions we support 15 Trees and to date we have planted over 2200 trees through Victorian Landcare groups.
We are a family owned and run distillery, what you drink has been lovingly created from a passion for quality, flavour and the beautiful region we call home.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
The majority of distilleries in Australia make their products by buying in bulk alcohol, diluting and flavouring it. At Hepburn Distillery we believe that every part of the distilling process makes a difference. That is why we ferment and distil all our own alcohol from scratch using organic ingredients (where we can) and rainwater.
All our products are triple-distilled for smoothness and many are steeped for months and years to impart the full flavour that we know you love.
If high-street alcohol brands are white bread - we are the equivalent of an artisan sourdough bakery. We test and balance each batch we make to ensure it is of the highest quality - that’s why we make premium spirits.
